Jill Tarter is the inspirational figure behind Jodie Foster’s role in the movie “Contact.” She has been named one of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in the World and Time’s 25 in Space, as she has garnered several awards from NASA.
She’s also coming to Lander this summer. On the night before the total solar eclipse that will pass over Lander on August 21 at 11:39 a.m., Tarter will give an in-depth presentation followed by a Q&A.
Tarter will present, “Solar Eclipses, The Universe, and You” in the context of her extensive work searching for evidence of technological civilizations beyond planet Earth.
Hosted by NOLS, the presentation at Lander Valley High School Auditorium will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets for adults 18 and over can be reserved for $5 here and children 17 and under are free. All attendees must sign up for a ticket on TicketLeap.
